DATA BASE ADMINISTRATOR I
Salary: Commensurate with Experience

Duties summary:

Installs, configures, maintains, diagnoses, and supports PNCC Corporate databases and dependent network subsystems. Performs database programming, web programming; develops and edits programming scripts; and performs other duties as assigned.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Installing and upgrading the Oracle 9i, MS SQL 2000 server, Pervasive, MySQL, and other related database application tools; using ASP/PHP/JSP for web applications and development. Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database systems.
• Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers and solution providers have designed an application; creates and maintains other databases as necessary. Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers and solution providers have designed an application; creates and maintains primary objects whenever necessary.
• Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers and solution providers; performs various computer programming across the network.
• Querying the database to extract information for users, auditors, management, and related company purposes. Enrolling users and maintaining system security for all applicable databases. Ensuring compliance with your Oracle and other software license agreements. Controlling and monitoring user access to the databases. Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the databases.
• Planning and performing backups and recovery of database information for disaster recovery operations, service restorations, protection against loss of data.
• Reports directly to Information Systems Manager or in the absence, then reports to Chief Technical Officer

Qualification requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Database Management (DBMS) and/or, a Certification of formal technical training of one to two years in database technologies such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), IMB DB2, or Oracle PL/SQL or related field and at least two years of strong and solid work experience in related field may be considered an equivalent to completion of college experience qualifying for the position. Experience: At least two years progressively responsible work experience in the database technologies such as database programming, web programming, and application building tools using ASP/PHP/JSP, structured query language (SQL), database management systems (DBMS); strong knowledge and use of Linux/Unix and various Microsoft operating systems.
